The National Minimum Wage: Commission proposal for 2026 adjustment
The National Minimum Wage: Commission proposal for 2026 adjustment has been published in the Government Gazette for comments. "South Africa’s minimum wages are reviewed annually in a process that involves social dialogue and input from economic experts. This approach aligns with the International Labour Organization’s (1970) Minimum Wage Fixing Recommendation for regular reviews to ensure that the wage maintains its value and purchasing power. Based on a careful consideration of all of the evidence and on extensive deliberations among Commissioners, the National Minimum Wage Commission recommends that the minimum wage for 2026 be adjusted by the rate of consumer price index, plus 1,5%."
