AtoM | A finding aid for our manuscripts and archives collections. Find archival descriptions for most of the almost 1500 collections in our holdings. You will also find some digitised content. |
Book a Seat or Room | Book a study room for silent or collaborative study purposes. |
Borrow or Request items | Use your student card to borrow books, DVDs or CDs at the Loans Desk or use our self-checkout machine. You can also request items online. |
Data Services | Digital Library Services assists with Research Data Management (RDM) and offers Digital Scholarship, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data stewardship services to the research, teaching and learning communities at UCT. |

EndNote | EndNote is reference management software used to keep all your references and reference-related materials in a searchable personal library. |
Find a Space | Choose from over 50 study spaces across UCT Libraries which caters for varying study needs from silent study, group study or work collaboratively on projects. |
Gartner | Gartner is a leading information technology firm that provides research and analysis services to inform and support decision making in higher education and other industry sectors. |
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Support | Get support for your next GIS project regardless of software. The GIS support unit provides support for Project Planning, Troubleshooting, Analysis and Cartographic Design. |
Google Scholar | Google Scholar is a useful tool for general subject searches and it mines information from different databases, including the ones UCT subscribes to, making sure that you can get access to something useful. |
Guide to the Manuscripts in UCT Libraries | The Guide is indexed, and is keyword-searchable in its electronic form, enabling users to identify collections that may hold sources of relevance to their research. |
Interlibrary loans | The Interlibrary Loans Department acts as a link between the University of Cape Town Libraries and other libraries in Southern Africa and abroad. If a required book or article is not available at UCT, it may be requested on interlibrary loan. |
JSTOR | JSTOR provides access to a number of older journal articles. |
Leganto Course Reading Lists | Leganto is a simple and flexible tool to easily create, maintain, evaluate, and share course reading lists. Schedule a demo from your Liaison Librarian or the Leganto Team. |
LexisNexis Online | A popular subscription legal database for South African Law. |

Open Science Framework (OSF) | A dashboard for managing and collaborating on your active research project data. Publishing Services | UCT Libraries are advocates for open access publishing, providing resources for researchers to make their work freely accessible in various ways. Visit Scholarly Communications for more information. |
PubMed | PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 19 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to 1948. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources. |
Purchase Requests | We welcome suggestions for the purchase of new library materials. Teaching staff are also welcome to request a purchase for the libraries by liaising with your subject librarian. |
Read & Publish agreements | UCT Libraries is participating in various Read & Publish agreements, which enable University of Cape Town (UCT) authors to publish accepted articles into eligible journals without any Article Processing Charges (APCs) in hybrid journals. For gold open access titles, eligible authors will receive a discounted rate on the title. |

Vula | Vula is the University of Cape Town’s online collaboration and learning system. Access your course or research sites by logging into the system using your network username and password. |
Web of Science | The Web of Science is a large, broad-based abstracting database with direct links to journal articles. |
ZivaHub | ZivaHub is the institutional data repository of the University of Cape Town. Use ZivaHub to make your research data citable, shareable, discoverable and reusable. |
