Google Scholar Google Scholar is a useful tool for general subject searches and it mines information from different databases, including the ones UCT subscribes to, making sure that you can get access to something useful.
Guide to the Manuscripts in UCT Libraries The Guide is indexed, and is keyword-searchable in its electronic form, enabling users to identify collections that may hold sources of relevance to their research.
Interlibrary loans The Interlibrary Loans Department acts as a link between the University of Cape Town Libraries and other libraries in Southern Africa and abroad. If a required book or article is not available at UCT, it may be requested on interlibrary loan.
JSTOR JSTOR provides access to a number of older journal articles.

Purchase Requests We welcome suggestions for the purchase of new library materials. Teaching staff are also welcome to request a purchase for the libraries by liaising with your subject librarian.
Read & Publish agreements UCT Libraries is participating in various Read & Publish agreements, which enable University of Cape Town (UCT) authors to publish accepted articles into eligible journals without any Article Processing Charges (APCs) in hybrid journals. For gold open access titles, eligible authors will receive a discounted rate on the title.
