The Strategy for Reducing Food Losses and Waste, 2025-2030 has been published in the Government Gazette no. 53243 of 29 August 2025. "The idea of this policy instrument is to highlight the food losses and waste occurring along the entire Food Supply Chain (FSC) with the aim of contributing to the reduction of food wastage through the adoption of new technologies, circular economy approaches and ultimately improving food security and mitigating the negative environmental impacts associated with food losses and waste, taking into consideration the best practices and policies that best suited for the South African context."
