According to the State of Tourism Report 2015/16, "Despite global economic and political constraints, international tourist arrivals and tourism receipts grew by 4.6% and 4.4% in 2015 compared to 2014 respectively. The weight of international tourist arrivals and receipts are carried by travellers from Europe, Asia and the Pacific and Americas. Nonetheless, projections indicate a higher growth rate for Africa’s international tourist arrivals, compared to other continents in the long-term. The top three source markets for international tourists in 2015 were China, USA and Germany. The potential lies within the spending power of key markets or the sheer volume of a market. Tourism destinations need to increase their share of top global source markets while building other emerging markets through their product offering, tourism accessibility and attractiveness."
