The Department of Energy has published the 1st draft of the Post-2015 National Energy Efficiency Strategy, for comment. The first National Energy Efficiency Strategy (NEES) was published in 2005 and updated in 2011. The post-2015 NEES aims to build on the achievements of the first NEES, "stimulating further energy efficiency improvements through a combination of fiscal and financial incentives, a robust legal and regulatory framework, and enabling measures. The strategy has been framed to complement the policies and strategies of the Department of Environment Affairs (DEA), the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Transport (DoT) and the National Treasury."
