The goal of the Strategy to address air pollution in dense low-income settlements: a “burning” issue "is to map out the path that the country needs to take in reducing the impact of air pollution in dense low-income settlements. It aims to provide a coordinated approach in implementation of efforts directed at ensuring that ambient air quality in dense low-income settlements is in compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards, thereby ensuring the right to air that is not harmful to people’s health and well-being as required by section 24 of the Constitution of South Africa."
