Western Cape Coastal Management Programme, 2016
"The Western Cape Coastal Management Programme represents a step in the cycle of integrated coastal management in the Western Cape. In keeping with this, it is intended that this should be treated as a ‘living document’, and not merely as another policy document whose usefulness will soon be outdated. This PCMP has been designed with a cyclical review process firmly in mind, a process that allows for amongst others: a reassessment of local conditions and priorities in respect to implementation steps; and, the identification of further issues if and when required."
"The PCMP is a transversal initiative which will be implemented through partnerships between all sectors and spheres of government and other stakeholders. The PCMP focuses on growing the blue and green economy through unlocking the economic potential of our coastal assets. It contributes directly to enabling a resilient-, sustainable-, quality- and inclusive living environment through improved spatial- and development planning, access, protection and Local Government support in the coastal environment. Direct links are made with the implementation of Operation Phakisa, which focuses on unlocking the economic potential of South Africa’s oceans."
