The newspaper holdings in Special Collections are rich and varied, and include nearly complete runs of Cape Town’s two major dailies, the Cape Argus (from 1857) and the Cape Times (from 1876), as well as many community newspapers in various South African languages some of them dating back to the nineteenth century. The collections include not only runs of many newspaper titles, but also press clippings bulletins, which are often focussed on a particular country or area, or a specific topic or topics.

Special Collections also holds several different series of loose, filed press clippings, such as the MacMillan Collection. Consult a staff member for assistance with access to this type of material.
