Audio Tour: Stop 1

Welcome to the UCT Libraries audio tour. This is a self-guided tour with several stops across the library aimed to give you an introduction to the space and services. UCT Libraries is made up of the Chancellor Oppenheimer Library and seven branch libraries.

The first stop of this tour starts in the foyer of Chancellor Oppenheimer, also known as main library, on student extension 3. You can access the opening hours via the library’s website at www.lib.uct.ac.za.

Take a moment to look around. The main entrance and exit to the library, can be found on either side of the security desk, where campus security is always stationed. To gain access into the library, a valid UCT student card is needed, which is swiped at the turnstile. You will also find our latest book displays, book returns box, as well as campus updates and general news on the TV screen.

Before we continue, please note that no eating is allowed in the library and, if you have any drinks, please ensure that they are in a spill-proof container. We also ask that you keep noise levels to a minimum to not disturb any of the other students. Lastly, we always want you to feel comfortable in the library. Remember this is your space, so feel free to ask for help from any of our friendly library staff.

The tour will continue in the Knowledge Commons which can be found through the turnstile. You can make your way there now - the next stop will be indicated as stop 2. Once you are there, hit play on the next audio file.

Welkom by die UK Biblioteek oudiotoer. Dit is 'n selfbegeleide toer met verskeie ruspunte  in  die biblioteek wat daarop gemik is om jou 'n inleiding tot die biblioteekruimte en-dienste te gee.

UK Biblioteek bestaan uit die Kanselier Oppenheimer-biblioteek en sewe takbiblioteke. Die eerste stop van hierdie toer begin in die voorportaal van Kanselier Oppenheimer, ook bekend as die hoofbiblioteek, op studente-uitbreiding 3. Jy kan toegang tot die openingstye kry via die biblioteek se webwerf by www.lib.uct.ac.za.

Neem 'n oomblik om rond te kyk. Die hoofingang en uitgang na die biblioteek kan aanweerskante van die sekuriteitstoonbank gevind word, waar kampusveiligheid altyd gestasioneer is. Om toegang tot die biblioteek te verkry, is 'n geldige UK-studentekaart nodig wat op die draaihek gevee word. Jy vind ook ons nuutste boekuitstallings, boekopgawe-vak, sowel as kampus- en algemene nuus op die TV-skerm.

Voordat ons voortgaan, let asseblief daarop dat geen  verversings in die biblioteek toegelaat word nie en enige drankies moet in ‘n morsvaste houer wees.  Ons vra ook dat geraasvlakke tot 'n minimum beperk word om nie enige van die ander studente te steur nie. Laastens wil ons altyd hê dat jy gemaklik in die biblioteek moet voel. Onthou dat dit jou ruimte is, so vra gerus vir  enige van ons vriendelike biblioteekpersoneel om hulp.

Die toer sal voortgaan in die Knowledge Commons wat deur die draaihek gevind kan word. Jy kan nou daarheen gaan – die volgende ruspuntword aangedui as stop 2.
