The Vincent Kolbe Knowledge Commons, also known as the KC, mainly caters to first-years and undergraduate students. There are many services that are available for you to make use of.
KC offers you a variety of services from printing to a quiet space to sit and do some work on one of our computers or in a group study room, both of which can be booked via the library’s website.
There are library staff and student assistants which are also called library buddies. You can spot the library buddies by their bright yellow “ask me” bibs. They can help you with navigating the UCT platforms like Amathuba, PeopleSoft and your UCT email. They can also get you started with printing, loading credits, and using the library’s website to find books, journals, and databases on our catalogue, Primo.
Basically, they are there to make your UCT experience easier, especially within the library!
The tour will continue at the Hub. Exit the KC, go up the short flight of stairs. Alternatively, you can also use the lift available at the back of the foyer, which can be used to access different floors. Make your way to the next stop which will be indicated as stop 3.

Die Vincent Kolbe Knowledge Commons, ook bekend as die KC, maak hoofsaaklik vir eerstejaars en voorgraadse studente voorsiening. Daar is baie dienste wat beskikbaar is vir jou om van gebruik te maak.
KC bied vir jou 'n verskeidenheid dienste van drukwerk tot 'n stil ruimte om op een van ons rekenaars, of in 'n groepstudiekamer te sit en werk. Albei kan via die biblioteek se webwerf bespreek word.
Daar is biblioteekpersoneel en studente-assistente wat ook library buddies genoem word. Jy kan die “buddies” herken aan hul heldergeel "vra my"-slabbetjies. Hulle kan jou help met die navigasie van die UK-platforms soos Amathuba, PeopleSoft en jou UK-e-pos. Hulle kan jou ook aan die gang kry met drukwerk, die laai van krediete en die gebruik van die biblioteek se webwerf om boeke, joernale, tydskrifte en databasisse op ons katalogus, Primo, te vind.
Basies is hulle daar om jou UK-ervaring makliker te maak , veral binne die biblioteek! Die toer sal by die Hub voortgaan. Verlaat die KC, gaan op met die kort trappies. Alternatiewelik kan jy ook die hysbak, wat beskikbaar is aan die agterkant van die voorportaal, gebruik om toegang tot verskillende verdiepings te kry. Gaan na die volgende ruspunt, wat as stop 3 aangedui sal word.
