UCT Open Education Week 2019
The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching in collaboration with UCT Libraries is pleased to host this year’s Open Education Week seminar at the University of Cape Town on 6 March 2019. Recognising current inequities in terms of representation and access in the South African higher education system, the seminar takes an explicit social justice approach in terms of trying to articulate and identify the options for open education approaches which improve equitable access to appropriate and relevant learning resources.
The event will also serve as the launch of the UNESCO Chair in Open Education which was recently awarded to Associate Professor Cheryl Hodgkinson-Williams in recognition of her contribution in leading numerous ground-breaking research and implementation initiatives focused on open education in the Global South.
