  • Snape Library Learning Lounge extended hours

    -

    Please note that the operating hours for Snape Library Learning Lounge will be extended from the start of the second semester. Effective 28 July 2025, the lounge will be open from 08h00 to 18h00 on weekdays.

  • UCT Libraries 2024/2025 Vacation Hours

    -

    The 2025 academic year is almost at an end, and the UCTL operating hours will change accordingly. 

    1) Vacation hours (in effect from Thursday, 21 November, 2025 to Saturday, 14 February, 2026)

    1. Vacation hours for the Main Library and branch libraries will be in effect from Saturday, 22 November, until Tuesday 23 December.
    2. The Hlanganani, KC, Impilo and Law 24/7 study spaces will be in operation when the libraries are closed.
    3. On Wednesday, 24 December, UCT Libraries (including the 24/7 study spaces) will close completely at 12h30 and re-open at 08h30 on Monday, 05 January 2026.
    4. Vacation hours for the Main Library and branch libraries will resume from Monday 05 January 2026 until Saturday 14 February 2026.
    5. Normal term hours for all libraries will commence on Monday 16 February 2026.

    *Please note that the Institute of Child Health Library will be closed from 15 December 2025 – 16 January 2026 as a library, but the space will be accessible 24/7 for study purposes. The ICH Library will re-open on Monday 19 January 2026 as a library.

  • Access to Primary Collections (archival materials) in Special Collections

    -

    Please note that advance bookings can be made to access academic archives until 19 December. The service will close thereafter for the festive period and resume on 12 January 2026.
