5 Steps to get started with UCT Libraries
1. Bring along your Student or Staff Card
Did you know your student or staff card is also your library card? Remember to carry it with you to gain access to the Libraries, borrow items, and use it to make photocopies and print in all Libraries.
Visitors are welcome to use our Libraries on a day-to-day basis. Refer to our access and membership page for more information.
2. Borrow at the Loans Desk or Request Online
Request books online via Primo for collection at the Loans Desk. You may also use our self-service machines or ask a friendly staff member at the Loans Desk for assistance.
How many items may I borrow?
Students can borrow up to 6 items at a time if they are an undergraduate or 12 if they are a postgraduate. Refer to our borrowing rules for more information.
3. Find Library Resources
- Search Primo, simple one-stop searching for books, e-books, videos, articles, digital media and more
- Many books are available online as eBooks on Databases A-Z
- Borrow DVDs and CDs from Short Loans at the Loans Desk
- Search & find all library resources.
4. Find a place to study
Choose from over 50 study spaces across all our libraries, from silent study spaces, 24/7 spaces to collaborative spaces for group study.
5. Connect to WiFi or find a computer
- Connect to Eduroam and enjoy WiFi access throughout the Libraries
- Plug points and network points are available at many study tables.
- Find a computer.
- Print from a laptop or PC
