What is offsite book collection?
Offsite book collection is a new library service that aims at reaching out to both UCT students and staff by making library resources available to patrons due to lockdown restrictions.
How does it work?
- Simply sign in to Primo, our library catalogue and request the book(s) that interest you.
- Select Burnage when asked to select a pickup location for your request. For Health Sciences staff and students, please select Health Sciences Library as a pickup location.
- Please note that ONLY books currently on the shelf can be requested. Books on loan cannot be requested.
- Our staff will retrieve the book(s) then notify you via email when they are ready for pick up.
- Instructions for collection will be included in the email notification.
- After notification, you can pick up your books at the designated pickup point and pickup time.
- Upon arrival, staff will hand over the materials in a contactless transaction.
- Please also note that the wearing of face masks and sanitization protocols must be adhered to.
What books can I request?
You can request books in UCT Libraries’ regular circulating collection. This includes many books from our campus and branch libraries.
How long will it take to get my books?
Due to the logistics of this service, some requests may take longer than others. We aim to process requests as fast as possible but may take time due to the limited number of operating hours and staff in some of our libraries.
