Introducing AtoM@UCT, the recently launched online gateway to the primary source collections held by UCT Libraries. AtoM stands for “AccesstoMemory”, an open source, web-based, standards-compliant (ISAD-G, DACS, RAD, EAD/EAC, DC etc.) archival management system that is rapidly becoming the gold standard in open source archival description software.

AtoM@UCT is a work in progress, but already contains some 1200 archival descriptions. AtoM@UCT will eventually provide on-line access to descriptions of all our special collections, as well as to digital objects from the collections, allowing researchers remote access to our primary source materials. Explore AtoM@UCT and send queries or comments to andre.landman@uct.ac.za.
